PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICER (x1) - GABORONE

Main purpose of the position
To monitor and facilitate the delivery of customer connections by outsourced contractors and consultants to ensure efficient customer connection service delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Delivers required outcomes by working within an established project management plan.
- Issues allocated works orders and follows up with Consultants on customer connection delivery progress to facilitate the resolution of any issues affecting the timely delivery of connections in order to ensure connections are delivered according to agreed programmes and targets.
- Participates in projects inspections, commissioning and/or handover and follows up the correction of defects in order to ensure that projects handed over are in compliance with the Corporation’s quality and technical standards.
- Attends to variations in the scope of work and assesses these variations for approval by the supervisor.
- Reviews and endorses materials Purchase Requisitions by Contractors in order to ensure conformance with estimates and Bills of Materials.
- Checks that network layouts and schematic drawings are provided in accordance with the contract in order to ensure that system operational and planning drawings are accurate and up-to-date.
- Advises customers on connection requirements to facilitate efficient project implementation.
- Manages stakeholder relationships within established processes and procedures
- Liaises with stakeholders on behalf of Contractors and Consultants in order to facilitate efficient and effective resolution of internal processes that impact on project deliverables
- Executes a communications plan by working within established communication systems and procedures.
- Delivers required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers and working within an established contract management plan.
- Manages the adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLA) to ensure return on investment.
- Monitors the activities and performance of Contractors and Consultants and provides input in the evaluation of both in order to ensure that the Corporation obtains value-for-money service and safety standards are adhered to by contractors.
- Plans and coordinates testing and inspection of projects, then implements and monitors the effectiveness of corrective actions and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conducts projects risk assessments, identifies risks and recommends mitigation plan
- Highlights shortcomings and suggests improvements in current compliance processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
- Works independently to collate and analyze data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats.
- Produces periodic and adhoc reports in order to facilitate management decision-making and action.
- Delivers prescribed outcomes by working within established procedures.
- Ensures that all safety and loss control standards (Safety Health and Environmental) contained in the Corporation’s standards are adhered to.
- Arranges system outages, carries out network switching and issues safety documents during shutdowns requested by Contractors in order to ensure that work on the system is undertaken in accordance with the Corporation’s Safety Rules and system operation policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- A recognized Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Senior Authorization for operational purposes is a requirement.
- Class B Drivers License is required.
Experience
- A minimum of (3) years post qualification experience Distribution Network Construction.
